Black Friday has a way of making a normal to-do list grow very quickly.
You start with the offer, then remember the product page needs updating, the discount still needs testing, the emails need scheduling and the Instagram content has not been created yet. Meanwhile, there is a website banner to change, links to check and a checkout experience you probably do not want to discover is broken after people have already started buying.
That is what this checklist is for.
Not to give you another seventy things to do, but to make sure the important parts of your Black Friday promotion are checked, tested and ready before people start seeing it.
For 2026, Black Friday falls on Friday, 27 November, with Cyber Monday following on Monday, 30 November.
Work through the sections that apply to your business, skip what does not, and use this as your final check before your Black Friday promotion goes live.
1. CHECK YOUR BLACK FRIDAY OFFER
Before you create more content, make sure the offer itself is clear.
If you are still changing the discount, swapping products in and out or deciding when the promotion ends, everything else becomes harder to finish.
CHECK:
□ What exactly is the offer?
□ Which products or services are included?
□ Are there any exclusions?
□ When does the offer begin?
□ When does it end?
□ Is a discount code required?
□ Is there a minimum spend?
□ Can the offer be combined with other discounts?
□ Do you have enough stock, availability or capacity?
□ Is the offer still worthwhile for your business after the discount?
If you sell digital products, “stock” may not be an issue, but capacity still can be.
For example, if your Black Friday promotion includes personalised work, coaching, custom design or anything you have to fulfil manually, make sure the offer does not create more work than you can realistically deliver.
THE GOAL: You should be able to explain the entire promotion in one or two clear sentences.
If it takes a paragraph of conditions before somebody understands the offer, simplify what you can.
2. CHECK YOUR PRICES AND DISCOUNT
A Black Friday offer is only useful if it works when someone tries to use it.
Before the sale begins, test it yourself.
CHECK:
□ The correct products have been discounted
□ The advertised percentage or dollar amount is accurate
□ Your discount code works
□ Any minimum-spend requirement works
□ Excluded products stay excluded
□ Sale prices match what you are promoting
□ The start time is correct
□ The end time is correct
If you are advertising:
30% off everything
make sure it really is everything.
If there are exclusions, say so clearly.
If the code only works once per customer, make sure people know that if it matters.
DON'T RELY ON ASSUMPTIONS.
Add something to the cart and test the promotion the same way a customer will.
3. CHECK YOUR PRODUCT OR SALES PAGES
Your Black Friday content can do its job perfectly and still lose someone when they reach the page you sent them to.
Open the page as if you have never seen it before.
ASK YOURSELF:
□ Is it immediately clear what I am buying?
□ Is the Black Friday offer visible?
□ Is the current price correct?
□ Are the product images loading properly?
□ Does the description still match what is included?
□ Are important inclusions easy to find?
□ Are FAQs or conditions clear?
□ Does the main button work?
□ Does it look right on mobile?
For a digital product, also check what happens after someone purchases.
Is the download delivered correctly?
Does the PDF open?
Do the links inside it work?
Does the customer know what to do next?
For a service, make sure somebody understands what they are purchasing, what happens after payment and when they can expect to hear from you.
THE GOAL: Remove as many “what happens now?” moments as you can.
4. CHECK EVERY IMPORTANT LINK
This takes a few minutes and can save a lot of frustration later.
Do not only test the main button.
Click through the campaign properly.
CHECK LINKS FROM:
□ Your Instagram bio
□ Stories
□ Pinterest Pins
□ Email buttons
□ Website banners
□ Blog posts
□ Product images if clickable
□ Announcement bars
□ Navigation menus
□ Any QR codes you are using
Make sure each one lands on the page you intended.
If you recently moved your website, renamed a product or changed a URL, this step becomes even more important.
EXTRA CHECK: Test the links on your phone as well as your computer.
Most of your customers are not going to experience your Black Friday campaign from inside your Shopify admin.
5. TEST YOUR CHECKOUT FROM START TO FINISH
Do one complete test.
Not just:
The product added to cart, so it must be fine.
Go all the way through.
CHECK:
□ The correct product is added
□ The sale price appears correctly
□ The discount applies correctly
□ Shipping displays correctly if relevant
□ Payment options are available
□ The order confirmation makes sense
□ The correct emails arrive
□ Digital files are delivered if applicable
□ Any next-step instructions are correct
If you sell a free or heavily discounted promotional product, test that separately too.
You want to know what your customer actually receives, not just what you think the automation is supposed to send.
THE GOAL: Experience your Black Friday offer from click to delivery before your customers do.
6. CHECK YOUR BLACK FRIDAY EMAILS
Your emails and social media should be talking about the same promotion.
Before scheduling anything, compare the details.
CHECK:
□ The offer is the same everywhere
□ Start and end dates match
□ Discount codes are correct
□ Every button goes to the correct page
□ Subject lines accurately reflect the offer
□ The email looks right on mobile
□ Your sender name is recognisable
□ Your reply or support email is correct
□ Scheduled emails will stop once the promotion ends
You do not need an enormous Black Friday email sequence.
For many small businesses, the essentials might simply be:
Before the sale: Let people know what is coming.
When it opens: Tell them the offer is live.
Before it closes: Remind them that the genuine deadline is approaching.
Your own campaign may need more or less than that.
KEEP IN MIND: More emails do not automatically make a better campaign.
Every email should have a reason to be sent.
7. CHECK YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT
You do not need every Black Friday post finished before you can launch.
But you should know what the key pieces are.
AT MINIMUM, PREPARE:
□ Your sale announcement
□ An offer or product feature
□ A Story sequence
□ FAQs if needed
□ A reminder
□ A last-chance post or Story
□ A thank-you or campaign close
Check that the important information is consistent across all of them.
Dates.
Discount.
Code.
Products included.
Deadline.
DOES IT STILL LOOK LIKE YOUR BUSINESS?
Black Friday does not require you to throw your normal branding away and suddenly turn everything black, red and yellow.
Use the campaign to promote the offer without making your business unrecognisable.
8. CHECK YOUR WEBSITE AROUND THE OFFER
Your Black Friday promotion does not only live on the product page.
Look at the rest of your website too.
CHECK:
□ Announcement bar
□ Homepage
□ Featured collections
□ Navigation
□ Pop-ups
□ Promotional banners
□ Cart messages
□ Footer links if relevant
If somebody arrives on your homepage instead of directly on the sale page, can they find the Black Friday offer?
And just as importantly:
Will you remember to remove all of this when the sale ends?
Make yourself a note now.
9. CHECK YOUR CUSTOMER INFORMATION
Black Friday can generate more questions simply because people are buying faster and paying closer attention to deadlines.
Make the information they are most likely to need easy to find.
FOR PHYSICAL PRODUCTS, CHECK:
□ Shipping times
□ Dispatch expectations
□ Delivery cut-offs
□ Returns information
□ Stock availability
FOR DIGITAL PRODUCTS, CHECK:
□ How files are delivered
□ Where the customer accesses them
□ Software requirements
□ Licence or usage information
□ Support contact details
FOR SERVICES, CHECK:
□ Availability
□ Booking process
□ Delivery timeframe
□ What happens after purchase
□ Any limits or exclusions
If ten customers are likely to ask the same question, put the answer somewhere they can see it first.
10. MAKE SURE SOMEONE CAN CONTACT YOU
This sounds basic until the support email on an old PDF is no longer the one you use.
Before Black Friday, check your contact points.
CHECK:
□ Your support email is correct
□ Website contact forms work
□ Replies are going to an inbox you actually monitor
□ Automated emails contain the right contact details
□ Order or download documents use the current information
Then decide how you will handle questions during the promotion.
You do not need to sit at your inbox all weekend.
But you should know where customer questions are going and when you will check them.
11. CHECK YOUR BLACK FRIDAY CONTENT CALENDAR
Your content does not need to be constant.
It does need to be planned enough that you are not trying to invent the campaign while it is happening.
Make sure you know when you will communicate the major moments.
CHECK:
□ When will you first mention Black Friday?
□ When will you reveal the offer?
□ When will you announce that it is live?
□ When will you feature products or services?
□ When will you answer FAQs?
□ When will you remind people?
□ When will you communicate the final deadline?
□ What will you post after the sale?
If you still need to map this out, use the:
Black Friday Social Media Content Calendar
It walks through what to focus on in the weeks before your sale, on Black Friday, through the weekend and after the promotion ends.

12. CHECK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE SALE ENDS
This is one of the easiest parts of a campaign to forget.
You spend weeks preparing for Black Friday.
The sale closes.
You celebrate being finished.
And the banner still says:
BLACK FRIDAY SALE NOW ON.
Plan the ending before you launch.
WHEN THE SALE CLOSES:
□ Turn off discount codes
□ Restore regular pricing
□ Remove promotional banners
□ Update your homepage
□ Remove or replace announcement bars
□ Update your link in bio if needed
□ Stop scheduled promotional emails
□ Check automated emails for expired wording
□ Update pinned posts or Highlights if necessary
□ Remove any outdated sale messaging
If you deliberately plan to continue through Cyber Monday, say that from the beginning rather than making the promotion look as though it unexpectedly “extended”.
THE GOAL: Your campaign should end as cleanly as it started.
YOUR FINAL BLACK FRIDAY CHECK BEFORE YOU GO LIVE
If you are short on time, start here.
| AREA | FINAL CHECK |
|---|---|
| THE OFFER | □ Offer confirmed □ Dates confirmed □ Discount tested □ Conditions clear |
| THE WEBSITE | □ Product or sales page checked □ Mobile version checked □ Links tested □ Checkout tested |
| THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE | □ Order confirmation checked □ Downloads or delivery tested □ Support details correct □ FAQs ready |
| THE MARKETING | □ Emails scheduled □ Key social content ready □ Website promotion updated □ Final deadline communicated consistently |
| AFTER THE SALE | □ Discount scheduled to end □ Website updates planned □ Promotional emails stop □ Sale messaging gets removed |
If those pieces are ready, you have covered the parts most likely to create problems once people start arriving.
